Data Collection
Engineering baseline survey questionnaires were designed and sent to KENET research assistants who were either faculty members or senior network administrators in the university. Research assistants were given introduction letters which authorized them to collect data, these letters were given after the survey had been authorized by the Vice Chancellors of the respective universities.
The respondent of engineering baseline survey questionnaire were the chair persons or heads of engineering departments. The duly filled questionnaires by heads of department were then taken to the dean school of engineering to sign off. In so doing this, KENET ensures that the data received is accurate. Even though the baseline survey was supposed to take a period of one month, it was completed after six months in April 2015. This was because most department heads did not appear to have easy access to some of the departmental data required to complete the questionnaires. In addition, some of the department heads had not verified questionnaires that had been completed by their assistants and all the data had to be validated in the period November 2015 – January 2016. Thus, data collection was conducted over a period of more than 12 months. Download engineering baseline survey questionnaire.
